A 653/A 653M-05 Galvanized Deep Drawing Cold Rolled DDS type A Steel
What is DDS Type A Steel? The American Standard for hot dip Galvanized Cold Rolled Materials A 653/A 653M-05 defines deep drawing quality galvanized cold rolled hot dip galvanized steels with designations: DDS Type A. DDS stands for ‘deep drawing quality steel’. Deep drawing steel DDS type A steel is more draw-able that FS type A & B steel.
The Chemical Composition: DDS Type A is composed of maximum 0.06 percent of Carbon, maximum 0.5 percent Manganese, maximum 0.02 percent Phosphorous, & maximum 0.025 percent Sulphur. Remaining is Iron with other impurities. Zinc is coated on this composition of base steel.
Mechanical Properties: American standard for hot dip galvanized steel unlike the Japanese standard defines the range of yield strength of the grades instead the tensile strength. The yield strength is bit more relevant physical parameter for deep drawing steels because the above steels are subjected to plastic processes and they are opted for deep drawing.
The yield strength ranges from 140 to 240 MPa of the above material designation. The elongation of these materials is greater than or equal to 32 percent.
The equivalent materials are defined in JIS standard as SGCD2 steel and International standard is 03 drawing steel.
