JIS G3125 Hot Rolled Superior Atmospheric Corrosion resistance SPA-H Steel
What is SPA-H STEEL? SPA-H STEEL is hot rolled steel for Superior Atmospheric Corrosion resistance in the form of plates, sheets & strips for corrosion resistance application. SPA-H steel is a material grade and designation defined in JIS G3125 standard. JIS G3125 is Japanese material standard hot rolled steel for Superior Atmospheric Corrosion resistance steel plates, sheets, strips. The hot rolled steel for Superior Atmospheric Corrosion resistance SPA-H steel is more reliable in its tensile strength than SM400 steel.
Dimensional Characteristics of SPA-H steel: The applicable thickness for this SPA-H steel material it is from 3 mm to 300 mm.
The Chemical Composition of SPA-H Steels: JIS G3125 defines the percentage of chemical composition of SPA-H steels as under:
Maximum Carbon (C) percentage is 0.12
Maximum Manganese (Mn) percentage is 0.6
Maximum percentage of Phosphorous (P) is 0.15
Maximum percentage of Sulphur (S) is 0.035
Maximum percentage of Silicon (Si) is 0.75
Maximum Copper (Cu) percentage is 0.35
Maximum Copper (Cr) percentage is 1.25
Maximum Nickel (Ni) percentage is 0.65
Remaining is iron (Fe) percentage and with few negligible impurities.
Mechanical Properties of SPA-H Steels: The tensile strength of the SPA-H Steels is expressed in Newton per millimeters and it must be at-least 490 N/mm2 (MPa). The yield strength is minimum 355. The elongation property of SPA-H Steel varies with the range of thickness. The minimum percentage range for elongation is 15.
SM400A comparison with this grade of SPA-H Steel material will show how SPA-H differs with SM400A in chemical composition & mechanical properties.
Applications of this kind of steel are in making pipes, tubes and other specialized mechanical equipment at corrosive places.
please what the type of electrode for welding
Dear Sir
In cor-ten Steel JIS G PA-C, Grade A, The Nickle in chemical composition analysis shown to be 0.65 max . what is the minimum mass ration of Nickle ? and what is the minimum Ni acceptable limit in Corten A please ?
